About

Cameron Stephens finances commercial real estate and manages the investments behind that lending. On the borrower side it offers mortgage capital — acquisition, bridge, project, land, inventory and mezzanine financing, and land servicing loans — plus equity capital for ground-up developments with what it calls top-tier developers. On the investor side it runs debt and equity investment programs and a capital markets desk.

The firm began in 2004, when Scott Cameron and George Frankfort deployed a first $25 million of invested capital. Cameron had grown MCAP's assets under management from $50 million to $12 billion; Frankfort brought high-rise condo development and wholesale lumber supply relationships. The firm's stated approach since has been rigorous underwriting and direct borrower and developer relationships.

It now reports just under $3.6 billion in assets under administration — about $3.0 billion institutional and $0.6 billion private — against a 21-year track record, and marked twenty years in business with $12 billion of loan origination since inception. It has more recently expanded into Western Canada.
