About
Maple Leaf Angels is one of Ontario's longest-running angel groups, founded in 2007 as a non-profit to put accredited investors in front of early-stage Canadian technology founders. Members invest individually but share diligence, networks and mentorship; the group says its members have backed more than 100 companies. Its MLA48 fund line, launched in 2014 and open only to MLA members, exists to strip out the waiting: it commits to an investment decision within 48 hours of a formal Investment Committee pitch. Fund III, announced in March 2019 under managing director Prathna Ramesh, writes up to $150,000 initially with up to $300,000 reserved for follow-on, and earlier funds backed Bus.com, Orchard Labs, Cybeats, Moregidge and Suncayr. Maple Leaf Angels used TechTO's June 2017 open mic to tell the room a new MLA48 fund had closed.
