About

McKinsey & Company advises companies, governments and institutions on strategy and operations. It was founded in Chicago in 1926 by James O. McKinsey, a University of Chicago professor, and works from more than 130 offices around the world. Erez Eizenman, then managing partner of McKinsey's Toronto office, spoke at TechTO: Together in June 2024 with a message aimed squarely at founders: Canada has a serious productivity gap and is, in his words, terrible at scaling innovation, so the country needs more founders and more rooms full of them. He also brought back lessons from taking executive teams from large Canadian companies to see other ecosystems — Silicon Valley for digital, Israel for cyber — and what those trips reveal about how Canadian incumbents buy from startups.
