OTI Lumionics designs materials at the molecular level for OLED manufacturing. Its ConducTorr cathode patterning materials let a display maker leave selective gaps in the cathode layer, which is what makes an under-display camera or sensor possible, and support foldable and more transparent screens. Michael Helander co-founded the company in 2011 while finishing a materials science PhD at the University of Toronto and runs it as president and CEO. In October 2022 it announced an oversubscribed $55M USD Series B and said it had completed customer mass-production qualification of its display materials. He spoke at TechTO in June 2019 — on calendar whitespace, not on displays.
