Martin Basiri started Passage in 2023, having co-founded ApplyBoard and run it as CEO until 2022. The problem he moved to was money rather than applications: Passage says roughly 97% of international talent cannot self-finance Canadian study. It vets applicants on signals of resilience and capability instead of credit scores or Canadian work history, and says it aims to change one million lives by 2030.
