About
Addo moved from Ghana to Canada at fourteen and had no one to help her decide what to do next. Power to Girls started as a handful of girls from her church talking about their experiences, and became a non-profit running free group mentoring inside schools, with the support of the Toronto Catholic District School Board. The programming pairs girls with mentors and role models, and adds community sessions and recreational activities on top; the Ghana Project extends the same idea to education, leadership and economic independence there. It is a separate organisation from DriveHER, the women-driving-women ride-hailing service Addo also founded and demonstrated at TechTO in January 2019.
