About
RBC launched RBCx on 15 June 2021 as a single front door for technology companies, folding its technology banking unit together with its venture arm so that a founder could get banking, debt capital and advisory support in one relationship. The Globe and Mail described the move as the bank pushing further into a booming Canadian tech sector; the pitch wraps core banking products in partner discounts on cloud and accounting, tailored personal banking for founders, and sector specialists in areas such as cleantech and life sciences. It has since added a venture debt product, arriving as competition for that capital intensified in Canada. Three published profiles in this directory work there — Jeanette Jackson on cleantech, Laith Shukri on early-stage banking, and Matt Roberts on venture capital coverage.

Quick answers
What is RBCx?
Royal Bank of Canada's platform for technology companies — startup and scale-up banking, venture debt, growth capital, sector specialists and a partner marketplace, launched in June 2021.
How is RBCx different from RBC Ventures?
RBCx brought RBC's technology banking group together with its venture arm under one brand. RBC Ventures, the bank's earlier venture studio, has its own entry in this directory.
Did RBCx take the TechTO stage?
Not under that name. The three RBCx people in this directory spoke earlier in their careers — Matt Roberts and Laith Shukri while at Silicon Valley Bank, Jeanette Jackson before joining.
