About
VoiceX Labs built voice-first applications — Alexa skills and Google Home actions — for organisations that wanted a presence on smart speakers. Its first client was TVO: the studio developed the Alexa skill that put The Agenda with Steve Paikin's podcast into Amazon's Flash Briefing, announced by TVO on 10 January 2018, and the presenter told the TechTO room it took about two weeks of work and was picked up by MobileSyrup and other outlets. At TravelTechTO in February 2018 the team demoed an Alexa chatbot for travel search and walked the room through how to decide whether an idea is worth building as a voice skill, using 2018 smart-speaker market forecasts to size the opportunity. On stage the presenter described VoiceX Labs and BlockX Labs as two brands run by the same group of developers; Chinmay Patel, named by TVO as a partner at VoiceX Labs, is BlockX Labs' founder. Neither voicexlabs.com nor blockxlabs.com resolves today.
Backers
No funding is published. The stage description is of a developer group taking client work, not a venture-backed product company.
Quick answers
What did VoiceX Labs do?
It built voice applications for Amazon Alexa and Google Home on behalf of clients — the best-documented being TVO's The Agenda with Steve Paikin podcast skill, which went live on Alexa's Flash Briefing in January 2018.
Who was behind VoiceX Labs?
TVO's announcement quotes Chinmay Patel as a partner at VoiceX Labs. From the TechTO stage the presenter described VoiceX Labs and BlockX Labs, a blockchain developer shop Patel founded, as two brands of the same group of developers.
Is VoiceX Labs still operating?
Its website no longer resolves, checked in September 2026, and neither does BlockX Labs'. No acquisition or rename was found, so nothing beyond the lapsed domains is claimed.
