In their words
I'm not an influencer. I just have influence. It's a weird thing.
This is what I find is the universal truth: people are looking to find meaning in the world, they're looking to find meaning in the workplace, and they're looking to find a sense of belonging.
I was on my leave with my first kid. It sort of hits you like a Mack truck, becoming a parent. And I just couldn't find my tribe, so I decided to create it. I'm in the business of creating community — it's just what I do.
Quick answers
What is Alana Kayfetz's connection to TechTO?
She ran it. On stage in February 2020 she said she had been the director of TechTO for two years before starting MomsTO, and that she had been to hundreds of the events — which is why she was comfortable on the stage.
What does she say makes someone good at building an audience?
Three things, from her 2020 talk: they show up regularly, they show up with consistent messaging, and they show up with purpose. Her practical version is to block three minutes a day for content and to define six to twelve 'content buckets' — subjects you're actually comfortable sharing.
What does Alana Kayfetz do now?
As of July 2026 she runs The Mom Halo — a Toronto mom community with events, Momfest, Camp Mom Halo and a podcast — and The Kayfetz Method, a business coaching program for women that she describes as lifestyle-first rather than hustle-first.
