Chris Aimone co-founded InteraXon, the Toronto company behind Muse, the brain-sensing EEG headband, and is its Chief Innovation Officer. An engineer and inventor trained at the University of Toronto, he built the early neurofeedback prototypes that became the product. He spoke at TechTO in July 2019 on creativity, tinkering and happy accidents.

How did Muse start?

As a happy accident, by his account on the TechTO stage. The team wired a brain to a computer to control a light with alpha waves; watching people play with that feedback loop showed them the real product. They did not set out to build a meditation device.
