The Globe and Mail reported on August 22, 2019 that Drop was co-founded four years earlier by brothers Derrick and Darren Fung and their friend Cameron Dearsley, and identified Darren as the company's chief technology officer. Ivey Business School's Scotiabank Digital Banking Lab fintech profile of Drop, last updated January 17, 2019, lists him as Co-Founder and CTO from 2015.
