Quick answers
What did Jess Goodman invent?
iHeart, a fingertip clip and app that derives aortic pulse-wave velocity from the pulse wave and reports it as an "internal age." He has been clear it is a health-and-wellness tool rather than a medical device.
Why did he build it?
He studied Tai Chi under a Taoist monk for twenty years and promised his terminally ill teacher he would show people why stretching between the heart and the kidneys mattered. Aortic stiffness turned out to be the measurable version of that question.
