In their words
Patient communications is really the underbelly of almost every single patient journey that you can imagine.
In understanding clinical workflows really deeply, you understand where the dollars flow. When we think about our business model, it's tied to these important outcomes that clinics really care about.
I think about impact in two domains. One is, does it help a lot of people? And two, is the problem or opportunity meaningful?

Quick answers
What is Healthkind?
A Toronto company whose AI platform consolidates and automates the messages clinics and care teams send patients. Its own site claims 94% of patient messages handled by its AI and more than 36,000 messages a month at one client. Herbert and Matt Zukowski founded it in 2023.
How does she argue health tech pays for itself?
By tying the product to a cost the clinic already feels. She told TechTO that a cardiology clinic loses hundreds of dollars when a patient does not show up, plus roughly a hundred more in supply waste — so getting someone to attend maps straight onto an outcome the clinic will pay for.
What did she build before Healthkind?
She was head of product at Akira Health, Canada's first virtual care provider, which sold to TELUS Health in 2019, and then worked on scaling TELUS Health Virtual Care. Zukowski, her Healthkind co-founder, was Akira's CTO.
