Quick answers

How did Schema App find its product?

Through two pivots. Van Berkel told the TechWaterloo stage they started selling tools to help contractors show up online, found contractors didn't want them, moved to SEO coaching for small businesses, became a services agency — and kept coming back to the one technical thing they loved, schema markup. Google aligned with their approach in 2015.

What was her talk about?

Whether you are having fun, treated as a real decision criterion rather than a soft one. She used it to explain leaving 14 years at Cisco, and to argue that noticing when the work stops being enjoyable is a signal worth acting on.

What did she do before Schema App?

Fourteen years at Cisco, where she says she never applied for another job and instead kept creating the work she wanted, building products and services for customers like AT&T.
