A Toronto operator who is vice-president of corporate development and strategic partnerships at 1Password, leading its M&A and partnerships. Before that he helped found Carrot Rewards and led its partnership ecosystem.
What was Carrot Rewards?
A mobile app, built by Toronto B-Corp Carrot Insights with the Public Health Agency of Canada and three health charities, that paid users Scene, Aeroplan or Petro-Points for walking and for health quizzes grounded in behavioural science. It shut down in June 2019 when funding ran out.
Why did Carrot Rewards partner with government?
Because in a single-payer system the government is the country's largest health insurer and so has a direct interest in healthier people. He called it the hardest partner to start with, and said they started there on purpose (TechTO, October 2018).
How big did Carrot Rewards get?
His own numbers on the TechTO stage in October 2018: over a million downloads and a million registered users, live in Ontario, BC and Newfoundland, named app of the year by MobileSyrup in 2017, and 19th on the Canadian Business Startup 50 on revenue growth over 800 per cent.
