Who is Matt York?
He is a co-founder of Loopio, the Toronto maker of RFP-response software, and its chief technology officer. Loopio's own About page lists him as Chief Technology Officer & Co-Founder, and the company's 2015 founder interview gave his title as CTO and VP, Technology.
Who founded Loopio, and when?
Loopio says it was founded in 2014 by three friends: Zak Hemraj, Matt York and Jafar Owainati. BetaKit's 2021 profile of the company also names York, as CTO, among its three founders.
How did the idea for Loopio come about?
In a 2015 interview on Loopio's blog, Hemraj said he and York had worked together at another software company in Toronto and brainstormed business ideas together, one of them an RFP tool they first called "RFP Ninja." York said that as a subject-matter expert there, he kept getting asked technical questions about what Hemraj was selling and felt the pain of having no RFP software.
How did the three co-founders make it work?
Asked in that 2015 interview whether three was a bad number of founders, York called it "a magical number." In a 2019 follow-up interview on Loopio's blog, he said the founders had kept the ability to debate and respect each other's differing opinions as the company grew.
