Yoseph West, the CEO, and Paul Klicnik founded Relay in Toronto in 2018, according to BetaKit's 2021 and 2024 funding reports. Tearsheet's June 2024 profile of the company also says the two founded it, giving Klicnik's title as VP of Engineering.
What does Relay do?
BetaKit described it in May 2024 as an online business banking and money management platform designed to help automate the finance function for small businesses. Relay's own website says it is a financial technology company, not a bank, with banking services provided by Thread Bank. Fintech.ca reported in May 2026 that it serves more than 150,000 small businesses.
