We run a high conviction concentrated portfolio. You might have heard of the spray and pray model, which some early stage investors run — we're very much the antithesis of that. We like to run a portfolio of 12 to 15 investments per fund.

Who is Wes Barton?

Concentrated and lead-oriented. Barton told TechTO the firm runs 12 to 15 investments per fund rather than spraying capital, typically leads with cheques around $1 million, and has gone as low as $250,000 at pre-seed and as high as $3.5 million for a first cheque.

Why was he on the TechTO stage?

He and Neal Desai of Kafene were the first American guests on Founders & Funding, on 2020-04-24. Third Prime led Kafene's Series A, and Barton had sat on the board of Octane, where Desai was CFO before founding Kafene.
