What you see is basically two layers of data. One of them is real time events that happen right now currently in town, and the other one, the heat map, the colorization, is where are people concentrating.
Many times where we would like to hang out, it's not about the venue, it's not about the quality of service or even the music, but what kind of people will be there and if the place would be empty or crowded.
For retail chain it's all about location, right, location location. But location is many time determined by foot traffic. Who knows what the foot traffic is today? No one.

Who is Yaron Bazaz?
A Vancouver founder, originally from Israel, who built the real-time urban mapping app Go Downtown and demoed it on the TechVancouver stage in August 2016. He co-founded the Vancouver Israeli Technology Club in 2013.
What did he present at TechVancouver?
A live demo, not a talk. He walked the room through Go Downtown while it was still in beta: a map of live events around the city, a walking route to each one, and a heatmap of where crowds were forming, built from the aggregated location and speed of the app's own users.
