About
500px was founded in Toronto in 2009 by Oleg Gutsol and Evgeny Tchebotarev, evolving from an earlier online photo community. It built a global community of photographers and an image-licensing marketplace, raising roughly $24 million from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, ff Venture Capital and Harrison Metal. Prior investor Visual China Group acquired the company in February 2018, and 500px remains active under VCG ownership.
