About
Mika Unterman founded Apical in 2019 as what Highly Capitalized described in March 2022 as an ethical cannabis collective, advancing a more inclusive, sustainable and socially responsible cannabis industry. Its work is impact metrics: helping companies evaluate non-financial capital, then running them through ESG pilots that demonstrate a return and prepare them for impact investment. Apical has partnered with Friendlier and Regenerative Waste Labs to move clients past measurement into practice, including reusable case packaging and consumer packaging disclosure. Unterman took the TechTO stage for a previous employer, WalkMe, in June 2017.
Backers
No outside investment is on the public record; Apical is described as a founder-led consultancy and collective.
Quick answers
What does Apical do?
Impact measurement and ESG consulting for cannabis and psychedelics companies — evaluating human, social and environmental capital, then running pilots that show a return on it and get a company ready for impact investment.
Who founded Apical?
Mika Unterman, in 2019, who is its founder and president. She took the TechTO stage in June 2017 for WalkMe, before this company existed.
Has Apical taken the TechTO stage?
No. It appears in this directory because its founder did, for a different company. Its talks list is empty for that reason.
