About
APOLLO sells insurance the way software is sold: a quote in minutes, bought online, at any hour. It covers personal lines β tenant, condo, homeowner, landlord, pet β and the commercial policies a small business needs to operate, including general liability, professional liability (errors and omissions) and directors and officers cover. Alongside the direct channel it runs APOLLO Exchange, a platform brokers use to place small commercial risks that traditional insurers find uneconomic to underwrite by hand, and it embeds insurance into other companies' checkout flows through partner integrations. The company was founded in Vancouver in 2017 by Jeff McCann and David Dyck. A team lead from APOLLO joined TechTO's Founder Fundamentals AMA in October 2021 alongside Ownr and Humi, walking founders through the coverage questions that surface early β why errors and omissions matters once you are working in a professional capacity or hiring contractors, what an indemnity clause in a customer contract is really asking for, and why insuring two wildly different operations under one legal entity complicates the risk profile.
Backers
Venture-backed, but no round or investor list is stated on the company's own pages, so none is claimed here.

Quick answers
What does APOLLO Insurance do?
It sells personal and commercial insurance online. A small business can get a quote and a policy in minutes instead of scheduling a broker appointment, and brokers can use APOLLO Exchange to place small commercial risks digitally.
Who founded APOLLO?
Jeff McCann and David Dyck founded it in Vancouver in 2017. McCann is CEO; Dyck leads marketing. Neither has a TechTO talk in the archive.
What insurance did APOLLO tell founders they actually need?
Errors and omissions cover β also called professional liability β once you or your contractors are working in a professional capacity, on top of the commercial general liability a client may ask for. APOLLO's team lead also warned that indemnity clauses in customer contracts assume you carry cover that can pay out.
