Matthew Slutsky of BuzzBuzzHome: Growing Without Raising Angel or VC Funding

About
BuzzBuzzHome was founded in Toronto in 2009 by Matthew Slutsky and Cliff Peskin to fix a gap in real estate listings: resale homes were well covered online, but buildings that had not been built yet were not. The site catalogued new developments — pricing, floor plans, renderings, builder and developer information — and grew across Canadian and US markets. Slutsky told a TechTO audience in February 2015 how the company grew without angel or venture funding, one of the earliest bootstrapping talks in the archive. Zonda, the US housing-data company behind BUILDER magazine, acquired BuzzBuzzHome in April 2021, and the US-facing side of the business was rebranded Livabl the following year.
