About

Fez and Salar Rismani came up with Daily Delivery in 2011 while Salar was working for an online grocery startup and saw how much local delivery was going unserved. The idea was a one-stop request layer — dry cleaning, restaurant pickups, anything point to point — fulfilled in under an hour by a crowdsourced network of delivery specialists working their own neighbourhoods. The brothers built it while both were at Simon Fraser University working two jobs; by October 2013 the sign-up numbers were enough to get Just Eat's attention, and the partnership became official in February 2014, opening the door to Foodee and YP Dine. They pitched on Dragons' Den in 2014. Fez Rismani's October 2018 TechVancouver talk was assembled the night before, after a friend at TechTO called at 9:30pm asking him to fill an open slot, and he used it to argue the opposite of a polished success story: there is no perfect plan and no perfect time, and the trap is telling yourself you will start after the next job or the next degree.
