Empty Cubicle

Empty Cubicle was a Toronto recruiting platform founded in October 2014 by Eric Riz, built on verified data: it checked what candidates claimed on a resume against evidence in real time and matched them to corporate job openings, rather than taking the resume at its word.

About

Empty Cubicle was a job search and recruitment platform whose premise was verification. Its system used the candidate's data to evaluate resume claims as they were made and matched candidates against corporate job openings, on the argument that the expensive part of hiring is discovering months later that what the resume said was not so. Eric Riz founded it in Toronto in October 2014 and was its CEO. Riz is a frequent speaker and writer whose commentary has appeared in The Globe and Mail, Entrepreneur, Fox Business and the Huffington Post, and he has sat on the Microsoft Cloud Advisory Board, judged the Microsoft Imagine Cup and mentored for Futurpreneur Canada. He took the TechTO stage in May 2016 with a talk about speaking itself — how to be a better presenter — delivered largely without the slides, which refused to advance.
