About
entrepreneurship@UBC — e@UBC — was the University of British Columbia's route from research to company. It supported students, researchers, faculty, alumni and staff on both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses with entrepreneurial education, accelerator programming, entrepreneurs in residence and access to seed capital. Its best-known programme is HATCH, the venture builder for ventures chasing commercial milestones.
In September 2025 UBC consolidated its innovation services, and entrepreneurship and ventures — in UBC's own words, "formerly e@UBC and e@UBCO" — became a pillar of Innovation UBC alongside research partnerships and IP licensing. The programming did not stop: Venture Founder, HATCH Venture Builder, Lab2Market, AccelerateIP and the Okanagan Venture Mentoring Service all continue under the Innovation UBC banner, and the old entrepreneurship.ubc.ca address now redirects there. Two people in this directory worked in the programme: Angela Hamilton, entrepreneur in residence leading the Social Venture Studio, and Michelle Sklar, who ran marketing and communications.

What is HATCH?
The venture builder programme, an incubator for UBC innovators working towards commercial milestones. It is the programme most often named when e@UBC is described, and it survived the move into Innovation UBC.
How big is UBC's venture output?
Innovation UBC reports 296 spin-off companies based on UBC research, $11B of capital raised and more than 2,800 full-time jobs created by UBC-supported ventures. Those are university-wide numbers covering more than this programme, and are published here as such.
