About

Sarah Landstreet started Georgette Packaging after running a bakery in Belfast and finding that good packaging was hard for a small food business to buy. The company sits between food businesses and manufacturers, handling design and supply of branded cups, bags and boxes. It went through Y Combinator's Winter 2016 batch, was profitable and self-funded by 2017, and made all of its packaging carbon neutral by late 2018. Landstreet's argument on the TechTO stage was that packaging waste would not be solved by technology but by behaviour — people getting used to asking questions about what their packaging is. She stepped away around 2021 and ownership passed to two employees; Jennifer Appleby Vines is now CEO and owner.

Backers

Y Combinator, Winter 2016 batch. Landstreet described the business as profitable and self-funded on stage in 2017, and no other investors are established. She also pitched CBC's Next Gen Den in 2015; all three dragons declined.
