About
Cassy Aite, his brother Emil Aite and Eric Kys started Desk Nibbles in Ottawa in late 2016 while at Carleton, delivering healthy snacks to offices. They bootstrapped it, then raised $362,500 in pre-seed money in 2018 to push into the US, with clients including Uber and TripAdvisor. Cassy told the fundraising story on the TechTO stage in October 2018. When offices emptied in 2020 the physical snack box had no market, and the company rebuilt the same idea as software: virtual gift cards employers send to remote staff with constraints on what, where and when they can be spent. As Hoppier it now handles lunch allowances, coffee, gifts, charity donations and learning budgets for organisations in more than 60 countries.
