About
Inference Labs was founded in Hamilton, Ontario in 2023 by Colin Gagich and Ron Chan, working on a question that gets harder as AI gets more capable: when a model returns an answer, how does anyone verify it came from the model that was supposed to produce it. Its proof-of-inference protocol uses zero-knowledge proofs to make that check cryptographic rather than a matter of trusting the operator, and its first product, Omron, applies it inside the Bittensor network. The company raised $2.3 million USD in pre-seed funding in April 2024, co-led by Delphi Ventures, Digital Asset Capital Management and Mechanism Capital, and has raised $6.3 million in total. Gagich spoke at TechTO in September 2025 on whether AI can be trusted, and whether it should trust us.

Later rounds are reported to bring the total to $6.3 million.
