About
Jiffy was built around one bet: for a clogged drain or a light fixture swap, you do not need the best electrician in the city, you need a good one who comes today at a fair price. So homeowners do not pick the pro — the job is broadcast to hundreds of vetted trades and the first to grab it gets it. Co-founder Paul Arlin told the Toronto Tech Week stage the company raised about $15M over its first six years, never landed the Series A it went out for, and only got healthy once it stopped chasing US expansion and fixed retention and unit economics. Intact Financial, Canada's largest home insurer, acquired Jiffy in November 2024; it still runs as its own brand.

Quick answers
What does Jiffy do?
Books vetted trades for small home jobs — plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, exterior repairs, furniture assembly — same or next day, at a price set up front. You do not choose the pro; the first available one to grab the job takes it.
Who founded Jiffy?
Paul Arlin, Ryan Shupak and Jaimie Grossman, in April 2015 in Toronto. All three were new homeowners who could not get a trade to call them back for a small job.
What happened to Jiffy?
Intact Financial, Canada's largest home insurer, acquired Jiffy in November 2024 for undisclosed terms. Jiffy still operates under its own brand, and its co-founders joined Intact.
How did Jiffy get its first customers?
It signed 75 companies first — five each across 15 categories — then emailed about 600 friends and family with a promo code, as Paul Arlin described at the October 2017 TechTO. Later growth came almost entirely from radio host endorsements.
