KFC Canada reached the TechTO stage in March 2024 through Nastaran Bisheban, then its chief technology officer, in a fireside chat about her route through several industries and the advice she gives people trying to move between them. She has since become chief information officer of VetStrategy. The business she was running technology for is old by Canadian franchise standards: the first Canadian KFC opened on 8th Street in Saskatoon in 1955, with Colonel Sanders in attendance, and the chain — PFK in Quebec — is now part of Yum! Brands, which also owns Pizza Hut and Taco Bell and franchises or operates more than 63,000 restaurants worldwide.
