About
MediaValet is a Vancouver digital asset management company. Its platform gives marketing and creative teams a secure, scalable cloud library for images, video and brand assets, with AI-powered search, proofing tools and integrations into the tools those teams already use; the company reports more than 70,000 users across its customer base. The company grew out of VRX Studios, a photography and content services business whose founder and CEO David MacLaren hit digital asset management problems of his own in 2010 and built on Microsoft's Azure platform-as-a-service to solve them — MediaValet describes the result as the first fully cloud-based DAM platform. MacLaren was founder, CEO and director from July 2010 to February 2023. Jean Lozano, co-founder and CTO, has held the technology role for more than 13 years. MediaValet traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange as MVP until STG Partners acquired it in an all-cash arrangement valued around CA$74-80 million; the deal was announced in January 2024 and completed in April 2024, after which the shares were delisted. Lozano presented at TechVancouver in January 2017 on moving the business from services to SaaS.
Backers
MediaValet was publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange as MVP until STG Partners, a Menlo Park private equity firm, took it private in an all-cash deal completed April 2, 2024.
