About
Meta took the TechTO stage in August 2020 in the person of Garrick Tiplady, managing director of what was then Facebook and Instagram Canada, for a conversation on the further digitization of marketing. The parent company renamed itself Meta in October 2021. Its most consequential Canadian moment came in June 2023, when it announced that news links would no longer be available on Facebook and Instagram for users in Canada, a response to the Online News Act that has held since. Tiplady still runs the Canadian business and his profile lists Meta as his employer, so his page and this one cross-link.
