About
Nanoleaf started in 2012 out of a University of Toronto solar-car team and became known for modular LED light panels that snap together and are controlled by an app and voice assistants. It has backing from investors including Horizons Ventures, Kleiner Perkins and Burch Creative Capital, though total funding is not fully disclosed. In May 2026 it agreed to be acquired by OneRobotics, the Hong Kong-listed parent of SwitchBot, in a deal reported at about US$40.5M closing in stages, with founder Gimmy Chu contracted to stay on as CEO.
