About
PwC Canada is the Canadian firm in the global PwC network, which spans 136 countries and more than 364,700 people. Its own practice — audit and assurance, tax and compliance, deals, consulting, risk, forensics and sustainability — runs to over 6,500 partners and staff across the country. Its place in this archive is early and specific: on 12 January 2015, TechTO ran an event on the 26th floor of PwC Tower in Toronto, and the firm's innovation leader Ted Graham opened it. Graham was an unusual choice for a Big Four innovation lead and said so — not a traditional CA, he had run a magazine for fifteen years and sold it before taking "a real full-time job with benefits", and he had finished in the top five at the world rock-paper-scissors championship two years running. His five minutes were an argument that the word innovation had been claimed so widely it was losing meaning, citing a count of some 33,000 mentions of it in quarterly reports in 2011, and asking what actually embracing it looks like inside a large firm. Graham led innovation at PwC Canada from 2010 to 2016, then ran open innovation at General Motors; he is now a partner at TELUS Global Ventures.
