Solink

Solink is an Ottawa company, founded in 2009, that connects the security cameras a business already has to the cloud and pairs the video with transaction data, so restaurants, retailers and banks can find the moment behind a refund, a discount or an incident.

About

Solink's premise is that most security video is never watched. Michael Matta and Andrew Paliga founded the company in Ottawa in 2009 to make that footage searchable and useful rather than archival: cameras stream to the cloud, the video is matched against point-of-sale and other transaction records, and a manager can go straight to the transaction that looks wrong instead of scrubbing hours of tape. Matta told the TechTO Canadian Rocketships finale in December 2025 that the company covers more than 35,000 customer locations and records upwards of fifteen times the volume of video uploaded to YouTube — content, as he put it, that lives in the shadows. Goldman Sachs Asset Management's Growth Equity business led a US$60-million Series C in July 2023, with OMERS Ventures, BDC Capital's Information Technology Venture Fund and ScaleUp Ventures participating; BetaKit put total funding at US$90 million at that point. The company sells primarily into multi-site operators — restaurant chains, retail and financial branches — where loss, fraud and operational consistency are the recurring problems.
