About
Speer Technologies Inc. is a Toronto development shop with an unusual business model attached: alongside designing and building software for clients, it treats intellectual property as part of the deliverable, filing patents on the systems it creates and sharing in what they earn. Mathew Mozaffari started it in 2019, having begun working in tech at 19, and the firm now describes a team of specialists spanning engineering, design, legal and IP strategy. Its client work spans healthcare, real estate, entertainment, finance and transportation. The Globe and Mail put Speer on its Top Growing Companies list in 2024 at number 42, reporting three-year revenue growth of 1,005 percent on 2023 revenue between $2 million and $5 million, 25 employees, and more than 300,000 daily users across the products it had shipped. On the TechTO stage in June 2026 Mozaffari took a narrower subject — how founders should actually use SR&ED and other government incentives, and what makes a claim eligible — in a Boast-hosted fireside during Toronto Tech Week.
Backers
No outside venture funding is on the public record; Speer is a services firm and its growth filing reports revenue rather than capital raised.
