About

SST Wireless engineers, manufactures and distributes industrial IoT sensors aimed at organisations that want monitoring without a large integration project. Its three product lines are tyre pressure monitoring for on-road and off-road fleets, high-temperature sensors used in forestry and equipment-overheating applications, and vibration sensors that let operators make maintenance decisions in real time. Christopher Chong, who took the TechVancouver stage in March 2017, describes himself as a turnaround chief executive who typically arrives after founders have left. His talk was a set of lessons from decisions that looked right at the time — among them an eighteen-month, roughly million-dollar overrun on a custom product a customer had asked for, which he kept funding rather than killing, and a market-selection lesson he framed as refusing to fight six competitors over one percent adoption. He also credited the company's entry into US mass transit to simply showing up at every industry conference and committee until it became a known name. Momenta Ventures has invested in the company.
