About

Dan Sutton founded Tantalus Labs in 2012 and built SUNLAB in Maple Ridge, BC, which he described on the TechVancouver stage as North America's first cannabis-tailored industrial greenhouse, taking roughly two and a half years to design and eighteen months to build. The greenhouse approach cut energy demand per square foot sharply against indoor growers, and the company sold direct to patients as a vertically integrated brand. It grew to about 150 staff before entering insolvency proceedings in June 2023 and laying off more than 50 workers. Atlantic Cultivation acquired the brand and remaining inventory in August 2023, so the name now belongs to another company.
