About
JointCraft is the unglamorous half of the cannabis business: not a brand on a shelf but the plant that fills it. It processes pre-rolls, infused pre-rolls, all-in-one vapes, 510 cartridges, gummies and flower on behalf of Canadian brands, out of a 60,000 sq ft facility on Langstaff Road in Vaughan — the former CannTrust site, which carries more than a decade of licensed cannabis history. The company says it began in 2021 as PINNRZ, operating under Final Bell and Mediwanna licences, before acquiring the Vaughan plant and rebranding. John Prentice founded it after Ample Organics, the Toronto seed-to-sale software he started in 2014 and sold to Akerna for $46M CAD in 2020, and which he has described as running most of Canada's licensed producers. He is chief executive; Amy Prentice and Adam Verk, its chief product officer, are the other founders. On its own numbers the plant hand-crafts three to five million joints a month and works with more than 30 partner brands.
Backers
No funding round has been announced publicly and the company names no investors on its own site. It presents itself as a contract manufacturer working for brand customers rather than a venture-backed startup.
