The People People Group

The People People Group is a curated North American membership community for HR, talent acquisition and people-operations professionals. Martin Hauck started it as a Slack group so practitioners without a big internal team could sound ideas off peers; it now runs a jobs board, roundtables, dinners and an annual summit.

About

It began with a LinkedIn post. Hauck was head of talent at Coinsquare and wanted somewhere to test ideas against people doing the same job, which his own organisation was too small to provide, so he opened a Slack group for HR, recruiting and talent-acquisition professionals. The group's own numbers are the plainest description of what it became: 6,000+ members across North America, 20,000+ conversations a week, and 800+ jobs, gigs and promotions posted a year. Membership is applied for rather than open, and the community sits alongside a jobs board, a fractional talent-and-HR directory, a newsletter, a podcast, member-run tech guides, roundtables and dinners, and an annual summit. Its pitch to members is the one Hauck had himself — the people function is where everyone else in a company brings their problems, and it has nowhere of its own to take them.
