About

Valerie Fox co-founded the DMZ at Ryerson University — now Toronto Metropolitan University — which opened in April 2010 and was named the top university business incubator in North America by 2015. She left to start The Pivotal Point in 2015 and took the practice that built the DMZ to other institutions: incubation consulting and coaching for universities and colleges including Ryerson, Algonquin College, OCAD University, Georgia State University and Wits University in South Africa, as well as for towns, regions and corporations. Fox described the business from the TechTO stage in August 2016, where she appeared in a different capacity — one of roughly ten people Minister Navdeep Bains' office had asked to collect ideas from across the country for Canada's innovation agenda that summer.
