Did Amir Alikhanzadeh co-found MadLipz?
Yes. His instructor biography on General Assembly's site says that after graduating he "founded MadLipz with two University friends and served as the backend engineer while building the app MVP," and that "Amir is now CEO of MadLipz." BetaKit, reporting the company's pre-seed round on May 2, 2019, quoted "Amir Alikhanzadeh, co-founder and CEO of MadLipz."
What is his background?
His General Assembly instructor biography says he holds a master's in mechanical engineering with a specialization in industry-grade optical sensor design, that he was MadLipz's backend engineer on the first version of the app, and that he moved to Canada from Iran at seventeen.
What did MadLipz raise?
BetaKit reported on May 2, 2019 that MadLipz had closed its pre-seed round ahead of Techstars Toronto's Demo Day, quoting Alikhanzadeh: "This pre-seed round has a good group of participants such as Plug and Play, Techstars and a very strong group of angel investors." BetaKit put the round at $671,000 CAD.
Is MadLipz still running, and what does he do now?
The app appears to be gone: madlipz.com returned an HTTP 402 "DEPLOYMENT_DISABLED" error and neither the Google Play store nor the Apple App Store returned a MadLipz listing when searched on September 22, 2026. We found no announcement of a shutdown. What Alikhanzadeh does today is not confirmed here — we could not open a page stating a current role, and his undated General Assembly biography still describes him as CEO of MadLipz.
