Yes. The Toronto Star reported on October 19, 2015 that "co-founders Andrew Colterjohn ... and Bojana Nedic" were behind Pearl's Choice. The company's own Our Story page, as archived by the Wayback Machine on June 26, 2016, says the two friends started it over dinner and "named their new venture after Andrew's grandmother who was the inspiration for the business."

The Toronto Star reported on October 19, 2015 that Colterjohn came home from four months of travel to find his father comparing retirement homes for his grandmother in an Excel spreadsheet.
