I grew up in Oakville. I live in Vancouver now and I'm building a home service operating system. I'm an electrician by trade, supporting aging-in-place infrastructure.
I have a waitlist of 430 homeowners in Vancouver right now waiting for me to launch the product and to build revenue. And at the end of the day, I want revenue.

Who is Carly Steiman?
A licensed Red Seal electrician of about 18 years and the founder of Workbee Home Services in Vancouver. She also runs Lady Electric, a female-led residential electrical and lighting company she started in 2016, and spent years doing lighting in film as an IATSE member.
What is Workbee Home Services?
A home-maintenance service built on a seasonal subscription, connecting homeowners — particularly older ones trying to stay in their homes — with tradeswomen and gender-diverse contractors. It grew out of how often clients asked her to refer other women in the trades.
What did she say at TechTO?
On the June 2026 Toronto Tech Week panel of Canadian founders back from three weeks in San Francisco, she described turning down American investors and opportunities because 430 homeowners were already on a waitlist at home: "at the end of the day, I want revenue."
