Craig Dunk is a co-founder of Properly, the Toronto proptech brokerage he started in 2018 with Anshul Ruparell and Sheldon McCormick; Bain Capital Ventures named him CTO in July 2021. Properly was sold in 2023 to Compass and Pine. Earlier he was an early Research in Motion employee who co-created BlackBerry Messenger, and co-founded Metranome, acquired by D2L.

A co-founder of Properly. BetaKit (September 2023) says he co-founded the company in 2018 with Anshul Ruparell and Sheldon McCormick. Bain Capital Ventures, announcing its Series B investment in July 2021, named him Properly's Chief Technology Officer.

What happened to Properly?

It was sold in 2023. BetaKit reported in September 2023 that the founders had exited through a deal with U.S. brokerage Compass, and in October 2023 that Pine had acquired Properly, with Compass taking the Sales Assurance IP. BetaKit's October article said Dunk was not joining Pine.

What did Craig Dunk do before Properly?

BetaKit (September 2023) says he joined Research in Motion in the mid-1990s as one of its first 50 employees and co-created BlackBerry Messenger. BetaKit (August 2016) says he co-founded Metranome, which D2L acquired, became D2L's VP of Product Architecture, and was hired that month as VarageSale's VP of Engineering.
