Yes. Riipen's blog, in a post dated May 5, 2025, describes "Riipen Co-Founders Dana Stephenson and Dave Savory" and says the two met in 2010 during business school orientation at the University of Victoria. Techcouver reported on December 11, 2019 that Riipen was founded by undergraduate students Dana Stephenson and Dave Savory.

The American Association of State Colleges and Universities' people page for him, checked September 23, 2026, lists him as "Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer" of Riipen. The Trending in Education podcast introduced him on March 24, 2025 as Riipen's co-founder and CEO.
How did Riipen get started?
BCBusiness reported on March 16, 2018, when it named him to its 30 Under 30 list, that the idea came from a UVic entrepreneurship project, that after earning his BComm in 2012 he worked as a sales manager for a roofing company while running Riipen on the side, and that the company raised $180,000 on the FrontFundr crowdfunding platform once it had signed up 16 schools.
