Who is Daniel Weinand?
A co-founder of Shopify. The company's 2015 F-1 registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission says he joined Shopify in August 2005 and co-founded the Shopify platform that launched in 2006. The Rational Reminder Podcast introduced him in November 2018 as the cofounder of Shopify.

Shopify's 2015 F-1 lists him as chief design officer since 2008 and chief culture officer since 2012, and says he had been a freelance web designer and studied computer science and music at the University of Dortmund in Germany. DesignM.ag gave his title as VP of Design in a July 2009 interview.

In a June 2013 interview with FAJO Magazine, Weinand said he moved to Canada for two reasons: he wanted to start Shopify with Tobi Lütke, and his Canadian fiancée was returning home from Germany. He said choosing Ottawa was mostly circumstance.
