Who is Harsh Nayyar?
The co-founder and chief technology officer of PocketHealth, a Toronto company that gives patients access to their medical imaging and reports. PocketHealth's own company page lists him as Co-Founder & CTO. His brother Rishi Nayyar is the other co-founder and the CEO.
What led him to start PocketHealth?
He hurt his ankle playing tennis, needed an MRI, and was handed a CD-ROM of the images to take to his doctor. He was surprised that carrying a disc around was still normal practice in health care. PocketHealth's site dates the injury to 2014, while The Globe and Mail and a 2017 DMZ profile say 2013, when he was working in Silicon Valley.
What did he do before PocketHealth?
He was a software engineer. BetaKit calls him a former Google software engineer, and DMZ reported that he worked at Agawi, a video and imaging software firm, before Google acquired it.
How is he different from Rishi Nayyar?
They are brothers who co-founded PocketHealth together. Harsh is the CTO and has an engineering background, while Rishi is the CEO and previously worked at Citigroup. The two bootstrapped the company for its first four years before raising outside money.
