Who is Jason Zoltak?
Co-founder and CEO of tofu, the Toronto AI hiring company he started in late 2022 with Jonathan Perez. He is from Montreal, went to Western, and worked at Shiftsmart and Velocia before that, with earlier stints at Mastercard Data & Services and in investment banking.
What does tofu do?
Two things that connect: an AI resume review product that screens thousands of applicants in minutes, and a shared talent network of strong candidates who reached late interview stages elsewhere without getting an offer. Companies hire from each other's rejected finalists.
How did tofu get its first investors?
A weekly email. Zoltak told TechTO in December 2024 that he wrote to friends, family and investors every week about what he was building, which made the eventual fundraise 'really natural' — the founder of Casper introduced him to the connection that funded the round.
